Childhood is a time when little ones soak up knowledge like a sponge. You can take advantage of this period to learn coding, helping children acquire a desire for creativity, problem solving or foresight. Skills come in handy not only in coding, but also in everyday life. Check out how you can teach them to your little one!

There are a lot of materials with which you can interest children

It is not hard to guess that reading a 500-page textbook full of black-and-white letters, formulas and tables will not arouse curiosity in children. The youngest will certainly be challenged in terms of their interest in science.

Fortunately, you can find plenty of materials designed specifically to get kids fascinated with learning to code. They are fun, easy to learn, allow you to learn the basics of reasoning important in the context of programming, and widely available. Which ones are worth paying attention to?

Scratch and ScratchJr

In these programs, children can create their own interactive stories and collaborate. This develops teamwork skills. In addition, each user has access to tutorials and an ideas page, which helps in using Scratch and ScratchJr.

The application is available in more than 150 countries and 60 languages. It can be downloaded to both a computer and operated from a web browser. It is also worth mentioning that Scratch and ScratchJr are free.

Code.org

Code.org is a non-profit organization dedicated to innovation in education. It enables computer science learning for children. The program can be operated from a browser, is free and available in Polish.

Children can choose from a variety of available courses, such as those on computer science basics. Code.org also offers programming lessons based on a block-based approach to coding. The 20-hour courses are available for all ages.

Code Combat

From codecombat.com you can learn coding in an interesting way by playing games. This unique approach makes knowledge acquisition engaging and fun. It has already been scientifically proven that absorbing information in an enjoyable environment, along with the release of dopamine, has a better effect on the brain’s thought processes and data acquisition.

Code Combat runs on a specially programmed code engine. The interpreter is designed for people who are just learning to code. It helps to acquire knowledge of languages such as Python, JavaScript and C++. It is worth mentioning that the knowledge is conveyed in an easily digestible way, using as uncomplicated a language as possible.

Code Avengers

Code Avengers can be used for free for a trial period. After that, fees are charged. Despite its many advantages, the software can be somewhat challenging for children due to the lack of Polish language. However, this can be used to learn English in practice.

Code Avengers offers access to courses and projects in which children can actively participate. The software teaches the youngest children the most important skills, namely logical reasoning, problem solving, and teamwork. Classes include learning to program, create websites, as well as coding in Python and Java Script.
